Fuck Yeah Psychology

Anonymous asked: I've always wondered...I want to work with children and do psychology.
Is there an actual job called Child Psychologist? If so what would I have to do to become one?

Yes there is. You need to get your degree in clinical psych, and you either do a track in child psych—generally speaking, clinical programs are designed so that you can treat adults, but you can take courses in child psych and do a track. There are also entire programs that are geared for only child psychology.

I’m not sure about the laws in your state, but I *think* the laws in my state are that if you get your degree without a track in child psych, you only have to do your internship with children in order to be licensed as a child psychologist.

If you’re currently at a university as a psych major, you should definitely go talk to your advisor to get better specifics!

Good luck :)
